SUSTAINABILITY
Sustainability is a core value of AMEA Power’s corporate strategy, as we operate to deliver benefits and results
to all our stakeholders, including our employees, suppliers, counterparties, investors and partners but, especially to the environment and to the communities that host our projects.

Sustainability
Our Commitment to Sustainability
We promote the economic and social development of the countries where we operate by delivering clean, affordable power to local populations that are often underserved. The sustainable nature of our renewable energy plants brings about a series of positive impacts on the environment, fighting against climate change by reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
We remain focused on environmental and social risk management and we are committed to invest in green sustainable projects and activities that drive the transition to a low carbon, and circular economy.

To further integrate sustainability into how we conduct business, we actively support partnerships and initiatives to advance the sustainability agenda:

The United Nations Global Compact as a strategic policy initiative for organisations, commits to align with the ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption.
AMEA Power participates in the United Nations Global Compact global movement to disclose publicly our commitments and progress and to shape the world’s sustainability agenda.

The Irena Coalition for Action is an international network aiming to promote the wider and faster uptake of renewable energy technologies. The Coalition provides best practices with the vision to drive the global energy transition in line with the Sustainable Development Goals on energy.

Carbon pricing is an approach to reducing carbon emissions (also referred to as greenhouse gas, or GHG, emissions) that uses market mechanisms to pass the cost of emitting on to emitters. Its broad goal is to discourage the use of carbon dioxide–emitting fossil fuels in order to protect the environment, address the causes of climate change, and meet national and international climate agreements.

Dii Desert Energy is an independent, international network operating from Dubai. Dii was launched in 2009 as an industry initiative in Germany (formerly known as ‘Desertec Industrial Initiative’) for accelerating the energy transition in the MENA region towards the supply of green electrons and molecules across the regional and global energy value chains. Our group is encouraging sustained prosperity and stability in the region through local value creation and jobs thanks to the energy transition. This has been established in the market as Desertec 3.0.
