The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) is an intergovernmental organisation that supports countries in their transition to a sustainable energy future, and serves as the principal platform for international cooperation, a centre of excellence, and a repository of policy, technology, resource and financial knowledge on renewable energy. IRENA promotes the widespread adoption and sustainable use of all forms of renewable energy, including bioenergy, geothermal, hydropower, ocean, solar and wind energy in the pursuit of sustainable development, energy access, energy security and low-carbon economic growth and prosperity.
With a mandate from countries around the world, IRENA encourages governments to adopt enabling policies for renewable energy investments, provides practical tools and policy advice to accelerate renewable energy deployment, and facilitates knowledge sharing and technology transfer to provide clean, sustainable energy for the world’s growing population.
The United Nations Global Compact is a voluntary multi stakeholder platform which convenes multinational companies to align against ten principles covering environment, anti-corruption, human rights and labour standards. Through the Global Compact, signatories share best practice in order to become better, more sustainable organisations. As a participant of the UN Global Compact, we support the 10 principles of the Global Compact and are committed to making them part of the strategy, culture and day-to day operations of AMEA Power.
Carbon pricing is an approach to reducing carbon emissions (also referred to as greenhouse gas, or GHG, emissions) that uses market mechanisms to pass the cost of emitting on to emitters. Its broad goal is to discourage the use of carbon dioxide–emitting fossil fuels in order to protect the environment, address the causes of climate change, and meet national and international climate agreements.
Dii Desert Energy is an independent, international network operating from Dubai. Dii was launched in 2009 as an industry initiative in Germany (formerly known as ‘Desertec Industrial Initiative’) for accelerating the energy transition in the MENA region towards the supply of green electrons and molecules across the regional and global energy value chains. Our group is encouraging sustained prosperity and stability in the region through local value creation and jobs thanks to the energy transition. This has been established in the market as Desertec 3.0.
The TNFD is a global initiative developing and delivering a risk management and disclosure framework for organizations to report and act on evolving nature-related risks, with the aim of supporting a shift in global financial flows away from nature-negative outcomes and toward nature-positive outcomes.
