Aqueel Bohra
Senior Director Project Finance
Aqueel has built a career with over 21 years of experience in development and financing of infrastructure projects, fundraising, corporate investments and engineering. He has a successful track record of structuring and financing projects in challenging environments and has considerable knowledge of competitive energy markets.
Aqueel is responsible for analyzing new business opportunities, defining development strategies and managing financing of the projects at AMEA. Due to his unique ability to understand technical, financial and commercial aspects of a project, he has been intimately involved in all stages of project development.
Aqueel joined AMEA from AlNowais Investments, where he worked extensively on developing a portfolio of power projects in the region. Prior to that he was part of the Global Infrastructure and Projects Group (GIPG) at KPMG and headed its infrastructure advisory team in Abu Dhabi. In the course of his career Mr. Bohra has advised a number of leading private and public institutions, mainly in, power, oil and gas, public transport and real estate sectors.
Aqueel is a CFA Charterholder. He graduated as a Mechanical Engineer and holds an MBA specializing in industrial marketing and finance from India.

Mohammed Shaikley
Senior Director Investments/Mergers & Acquisitions
Mohammed is primarily responsible for financial, commercial and transactional matters across thermal and renewable energy projects; project and platform M&A; corporate and investment structuring; and portfolio investment strategy.
Mohammed has fifteen years of experience in investments, fund management, corporate finance, M&A, and advisory services in the infrastructure, energy, oil and gas, petrochemical, industrial, manufacturing, and real estate sectors.
Mohammed was previously a founding member and Managing Director of Investbridge Capital, a DIFC-based private equity firm, where he led the group’s mandates in infrastructure and petrochemicals. Prior to Investbridge, Mohammed was a Director at Landmark Real Estate Investment Management where, in addition to taking the business into a profitable position after the 2008 financial crisis, he managed funds and executed a number of investments with successful exits.
Mohammed has also advised a number of prominent governmental and quasi-governmental institutions on strategies and policies related to infrastructure development and public-private partnerships. Mohammed received a Juris Doctorate in Law and a Masters in Business Administration from Chapman University, and a Bachelor in Political Science from the University of California. He also completed an executive program in Infrastructure & Project Finance at Harvard University.

Mohamed AlNowais
Managing Director
Mohamed is the Managing Director at AMEA Power. He is also the Chairman and Managing Director of Tama Investment & Development LLC.
Previously he was an Investment Associate at Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA). Also, AlNowais worked with J.P. Morgan in New York, USA, as an Investment Banking Analyst and worked with AlNowais Investment Company in Abu Dhabi as a Business Analyst.
He has also completed multiple internships with international financial institutions including HSBC in Abu Dhabi and Citi Bank in London, UK.
AlNowais holds a Bachelor’s Degree with joint honours in Economics and Business Finance from the Brunel University in London, UK.

Jean Rappe
Chief Executive Officer
Jean brings with him more than 30 years of experience in the power sector in markets such as North America, Africa, the Middle East and Asia.
Prior to joining AMEA Power, he was the CEO of ENGIE Solar in Paris. He joined ENGIE in 1987, where he held several positions including within engineering, strategy and business development.
Jean holds an engineering degree from the Catholic University of Louvain in Belgium, where he also obtained a post-graduate management degree.

Stefano Terranova
Chief Investment/Financial Officer
Stefano Terranova brings with him 20 years of experience across several markets such as Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America.
Prior to joining AMEA Power, Stefano was the General Manager of ENGIE EPS. He had joined the ENGIE group in 2011, and has held several positions within it, including Head of Acquisitions, Investments and Financial Advisory.
Stefano graduated from University of Rome La Sapienza cum laude and holds a MSc in Economics and Finance from York University. He is also a CFA Charterholder.

Hussein Matar
Senior Director Business Development
Hussein joined AMEA in 2016, focused primarily on identifying and screening power generation (conventional and renewable) opportunities in MENA and Sub-Sahara Africa.
He has over 15 years’ experience ranging from consulting, strategic planning, business development and project execution.
He worked for Deloitte in London for five years as an energy consultant and then joined Hess in their strategic planning division before leaving for the UAE in 2007. In the UAE, he worked for Abu Dhabi Basic Industries Corporation (ADBIC) within the corporate strategy and business development division.
Just prior to joining AMEA, he worked at AlNowais Investments, focused primarily on the Oil and Gas (upstream & oilfield services), Infrastructure and Power sector. His role within the group also included identifying, screening and developing projects within the midstream and downstream sector.
He holds a Bachelors and Masters degree in Petroleum Engineering from Imperial College London and Masters in Energy Studies from Dundee University Scotland.

Basma Bentaher
Director - Project Development
Basma is bringing to AMEA Power more than 12 years of experience, mostly built in the renewable energy sector, both on the public and the private sides.
Basma is responsible for project development of energy projects from their origination until financial close is successfully reached.
Basma joined AMEA Power following her role as Director of Business Development at a UAE-based developer, where she was leading the end-to-end development of a 1 GW portfolio of solar and wind projects in Africa, the Middle East and Central Asia.
Prior to that, Basma was working for MASEN where she has successfully managed the financial and legal structuring, the international procurement and the financing of a 520 MW portfolio of large-scale CSP and PV solar programs.
Earlier in her career, Basma was an investment banker, focusing on mergers and acquisitions, equity investing and debt raising. She has advised a variety of institutions on strategic transactions in infrastructure, energy, hospitality and real estate.
Basma holds an MSc Degree with Highest Honors from ESCP Europe, Paris campus, majoring in Finance.

Clare Back
Director - Legal
Clare has over 18 years’ experience as an international commercial and projects lawyer. She trained and worked at Norton Rose Fulbright and has spent a significant portion of her career in-house in both London and abroad.
Clare spent 5 years in the Project Finance team at Norton Rose in London primarily advising lenders on the financing of a range of infrastructure projects in the UK. Since then, she has worked predominantly with the private sector as an in-house lawyer, including at Sumitomo Corporation in Japan for 2 years and eleQtra in London for 10 years, advising on the development, construction and operation of complex infrastructure projects across the world and in a variety of sectors, particularly renewable energy in Africa and Central Asia.
She has been involved in a number of firsts including advising on the funding of the first private hydropower project in the DR Congo, the first private mixed utility project, the first private water utility and first private commercial ferry provider all in Uganda.
Clare has an LLB (Hons) in Law with American Law from the University of Nottingham and is an English-qualified solicitor.
She heads the legal department at AMEA Power in Dubai.

Zhu Yinteng
Director - Asia
Zhu brings a depth of experience into his role as Business Development Director.
Zhu has spent 10 years working for Shanghai Electric in the power generation sector in the global market and was appointed as the Chief Representative of the MENA region based both in Riyadh and Dubai since 2013. During his experience, he was leading the Chinese EPC and OEM company in the MENA market and participated in several large IPPs/IWPPs.
Zhu’s most recent professional achievement was in 2017-2018, when Shanghai Electric won DEWA MBR Solar Park-IV CSP IPP together with ACWA Power, with the total investment is reaching 14.2bn AED, making it the largest CSP project in the world. Until his leave in 2018, Shanghai Electric has been ranked as No.1 Power&Water Contractors in 2018 of MENA Region (MEED source).
Zhu holds a Bachelor of Science in Thermal and Dynamic from Shanghai University of Electric Power.

Benjamin Coquerelle
Senior Director - Legal
Benjamin is a seasoned project and project finance lawyer, who joined AMEA Power from ENGIE.
At ENGIE he held several roles, including General Counsel for South Africa and Senior Legal Counsel. Benjamin has more than 15 years of experience across markets such as Africa and the Middle East.
He completed his degree in Law at the University of Toulouse and in International Commerce Law at the University of Montpellier. He speaks fluent English and French.

Andrei Kelvchuk
Director - Project Finance
Andrei is a hands-on project finance practitioner.
From 2014 to 2021, he served as the Director, Project Finance at Access Power (UAE). From 2008 to 2013, Andrei was the team leader of the Investment and Modelling Team at the African Development Bank (Tunisia). From 2000 to 2006, Andrei was a Senior Associate with Cambridge Resources International (USA/Cyprus), a consulting firm specializing in the area of investment appraisal, financial modelling and project finance.
Andrei has extensive first-hand experience with renewable IPPs and structuring of project finance deals. He has been directly involved in a number of project finance and PPP transactions in Africa and Asia.
Andrei holds a master’s degree in Economics from the Eastern Mediterranean University, Cyprus.

Donato Sasso
Director - Delivery and Execution
Donato is a fully qualified Civil Engineer bringing to AMEA Power more than 33 years of extensive multi-cultural professional experience acquired in well-known energy companies like ALSTOM T&D, AREVA T&D, IBERDROLA and ALCAZAR ENERGY among others; there is much he can offer to AMEA Power within the energy and especially renewables fields (wind and solar). In the recent 19+ years, Donato has had intense international exposition in large scale energy-related multi-million-dollar projects located across three continents, America, Europe and Western Asia (Middle East).
During his professional path, Donato held different positions covering key areas like engineering management, planning and cost control management, project management, construction management, contracts management, team management and team mentorship.
With his extensive experience and ability to interact proactively to build and maintain professional relationships at all levels, along with his clear, logical mindset with a practical approach to problem solving and a drive to see things through to completion, Donato makes a strong contribution to AMEA Power in his role as Director – Delivery and Execution.

Mahabir Sharma
Chief Technical Officer
Mahabir is the Chief Technical Officer at AMEA Power. He has more than thirty five years of experience in the power and water sector. He has experience with Coal Based Power, Combined Cycle Gas Turbine Power and Hydro Power within the power sector and with Multi Stage Flash and Reverse Osmosis technology in the water sector.
Previously, he was leading the construction and commissioning of the USD 415mln prestigious AES Barka IWPP in Oman.
He was a key member of the team for the Fujairah IWPP, the UAE acquisition and expansion bid of USD 1.6 bn. He was also leading the discussion for Engineering, O&M and LTSA for the 425 MW and 15 MIGD CCGT Project at Salalah, Oman. He was the General Manager and Head of Asset Management (MENA) before joining TAQA (Abu Dhabi National Energy Company) as the Projects Director.
At the time of leaving TAQA, Mahabir was on the board of 250 MW Naively Thermal Power Project, India and the 1,050 MW Jorf Lasfar Power Project, Morocco. He was also involved in the expansion of a existing Coal Project at JLEC, Morocco; a CCGT project in Ghana and a Hydro Project acquisition in India.
He brings with him experience in almost all areas within Power and Water from the concept stage to the commissioning and also the operations.
