Dubai, United Arab Emirates; November 9, 2022: In the presence of HE Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, President of the Republic of Malawi, AMEA Power has signed a memorandum of understanding to develop a 50 megawatt (MW) solar plant in the country. The signing took place on the sidelines of the 2022 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27) in Sharm El-Sheikh.
The solar project will provide greater energy access to the people of Malawi. The country is one of the least electrified countries globally, with only 4 percent of the rural population having access to electricity
